Advanced options
  • This output writer does not preserve source EXIF, GPS or XMP metadata blocks. Original ICC profiles are not copied.
  • Transparency is replaced with white by default. Change the background in Advanced options.
  • Developed SDR pixels are converted from sRGB to linear RGBE. This does not create new HDR detail or restore lost source precision.

What happens when you convert CDR to HDR?

Local document import

Supported pages, paths, text, gradients and bitmap resources are imported locally. Document-specific version, font and unsupported-effect diagnostics describe preservation limits. Native Corel layers and print separations are not inferred from drawing groups or RGB appearance.

Vectors become pixels

Supported self-contained static SVG shapes are rasterized at the decoded dimensions. Text, scripts, animation, embedded images and external resources are rejected. Paths become pixels and do not remain editable vectors.

An HDR container adds no captured range

Developed SDR pixels are converted from sRGB to linear RGBE. This does not create new HDR detail or restore lost source precision.

Opaque output

Transparency is replaced with white by default. Change the background in Advanced options.

Is CDR → HDR right for you?

Good choice when

  • HDR fits your delivery use: Lighting environments & radiometry.
  • You review the document warnings before export.
  • You need a fixed-resolution raster asset.
  • You need an image in an HDR-capable working pipeline.

Probably not when

  • You require a complete CorelDRAW replacement.
  • You need editable paths, text or resolution-independent scaling.
  • You expect new highlight or shadow detail from a container change.
  • You need cutouts or translucent edges for compositing.

CDR to HDR conversion details

Sample precision & colour
Developed SDR pixels are converted from sRGB to linear RGBE. This does not create new HDR detail or restore lost source precision.
Compression
CDR: Not a pixel codec → HDR: Lossless CDR: CDR remains source only. No conversion writes a CDR document. HDR: RLE preserves stored RGBE bytes; RGBE quantization is not exact storage of arbitrary float RGB. The .hdr format is distinct from the general concept of HDR photography.
Transparency
CDR: Yes → HDR: No
Colour depth
HDR: 32-bit RGBE / XYZE pixel
HDR
HDR: Radiometric values
Dimensions
Conversion keeps the decoded image dimensions unless you edit or resize it. Orientation is applied by supported decoders. ICO fits the image into one selected square size; PDF page layout and rendering DPI are configurable. Device, memory and codec limits still apply.
Metadata
This output writer does not preserve source EXIF, GPS or XMP metadata blocks. Original ICC profiles are not copied.

Common questions

Which source information survives?

Supported pages, paths, text, gradients and bitmap resources are imported locally. Document-specific version, font and unsupported-effect diagnostics describe preservation limits. Native Corel layers and print separations are not inferred from drawing groups or RGB appearance.

Will HDR remain scalable vector artwork?

Supported self-contained static SVG shapes are rasterized at the decoded dimensions. Text, scripts, animation, embedded images and external resources are rejected. Paths become pixels and do not remain editable vectors.

Can HDR recover clipped highlights?

Developed SDR pixels are converted from sRGB to linear RGBE. This does not create new HDR detail or restore lost source precision.

Are bit depth and colour values guaranteed to match?

Developed SDR pixels are converted from sRGB to linear RGBE. This does not create new HDR detail or restore lost source precision.

Will metadata and colour profiles be retained?

This output writer does not preserve source EXIF, GPS or XMP metadata blocks. Original ICC profiles are not copied. Developed SDR pixels are converted from sRGB to linear RGBE. This does not create new HDR detail or restore lost source precision.
